Title: Miller's Diamond | Submitted by: dswain | Written by: Doug Swain | Style: None

Blooming is the beat old town
Trees full, green
Bend with water, bend with time
They've got somewhere to go: Up - Up - Up!
While cities and towns spread out and around
Street signs, street lights,
none of it is ever the same

People seem to never change
One flower fortifies a garden
One house vegetates a city
And not one soul can see the change
It's the same issues, same stories
Same life in such a different place
It's strange to think
    one could ever miss it

A diamond of Miller
Stands alone, silent in a field
Neglected by those who can't know
And forgotten by all those who wouldn't take the time
Around each edge stands a player in the game of my life
A different time, a different place, but never a different person
And I stand at home
Wondering why I came back
Wild awkward and out of place
    just to stand here alone

Like remains of the attic,
    dusted, settled, forgotten
Like a distance city on a road
    fading, shrinking, disappearing
Like leaving a memory behind
    absconding, removing, withdrawing
Miller's diamond feels this
    overgrown, neglected, tired
A small image of my life
    quiet, nostalgic, content

The truth is,
Miller's diamond never looked that good anyway

Miller's Diamond
