Title: why is it(possibly a prelude) | Submitted by: cmh502 | Written by: Chris H | Style: None

    potions will tell
or the mind will swell
thoughts may dwell
swirling into a moment of hell

no matter how empty
nor full of bliss
buying your way out
will only make you sick

tired,
the colors once were bright
awake,
i can sit and stare at the light
drunk
or tispy for an hour
sinking back to grief
like the quicksand which devours

temporary weightloss
in order to gain back more
she stood alone
reflecting on herself
near the stained glass door
unhappy with her stance
restless as can be
this young lady sat under her favorite elm tree
and conducted poems of three
later married with music
a sweet symphony
this girl sang alone
harmony a struggle to hold
perfecting her voice
this lady grew old
old like that tree
which leaves that still the fall
and dye in the summer
tree bark that holds
or in sharp causes splinters
which prick and punture
though glass which is stained
she stood alone
refracting the blame
which was placed upon herself
by future and past
the lady grew older
death approaching fast
once remembering herself young
striving for beauty and grace
an old lady now,
beauty had found it's place
in nature she wondered
back to the earth she would go
the lady now soil
so that these new trees may grow
here once stood a girl
with her head in the sky
crawling on all fours
struggling to get by
she once wrote that song
which she sang to you and me
how she felt so alone
carving her name deep,
into that old elm tree
and how she took walks
with nature by her side
and her book and a pen
so that words may flow
about nature and zen
art and music
still stood by her side
when her friends soon grew older
and had many things to hide
sonnet for one
a solo duet
the young girl cried
so the drying river
was once again
